Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is a protocol used since the late eighties for real-time Internet text messaging (chat) or synchronous conferencing. It is designed for group communication in discussion forums, called channels, but also allows one-to-one communication via private messages. BigBlueButton is an open source web conferencing system aimed at educational institutions. It is straightforward to use, and offers a collective canvas to share screencasts, video, sound and documents. Using three mountpoints on the Constant Icecast-server, we can play with multi-directional streaming. One is used for invited guests on-line, one to broadcast images from Brussels and a third for additional images that viewers decide to send us. More info about how to send us your ogg-stream available here: http://note.pad.constantvzw.org:8000/transmission After many tests and trials, we decided to make Verbindingen/Jonctions 13 available on-line in different ways: Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is a protocol used since the late eighties for real-time Internet text messaging (chat) or synchronous conferencing.
We will use the logs of the #vj13 channel for archiving purposes, and eventually synchronize them with the video documentation.

You can to connect to #vj13 on irc.freenode.net with your favorite client such as for example XChat, pidgin, empathy or chatzilla. You can also log in via qwirc, a web client originally designed for the QuakeNet IRC network: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=vj13

We thought that in the era of HTML5 it should be easy to find a tool that would not require Adobe Flash, but connecting to a users’ USB-camera is apparently not trivial (yet).
